As far as we know, we are the only foundation who does not give scholarships to those who are achieving well in class. Our scholars are those who are financially and academically "challenged". Why? We believe that these are the children who DESERVE to be helped. Without us helping them, they will be in the list of candidates for drop - outs and eventually become deviants in our society. We try to give them HOPE and DREAMS in making a bright future for themselves and for their family through our program. Every child deserves to be in school, so why not extend help to those who really need it?
We currently have 520 scholars spread among our 13 schools (Public elementary and high schools). Passing grade to maintain the scholarship is 75% in the elementary and 80% in the high school. We do not give monetary help to our beneficiaries instead, we give actual things that they need (uniform, shoes, slippers, bags, school supplies, grocery packs, rice, umbrellas, caps, and miscellaneous fees (which is paid to the school).
UFI also grants scholarship in college. The beneficiary has to take a course based on our limited list of courses. The reason for this is, these are the courses that our company needs and part of their scholarship package is - once the scholar graduates, he will have work in the company for 2 years with pay. The scholar will not be part of the statistics of unemployed thus the chosen courses in college. Maintaining grade is 2.5 or 80%.
